2006 Letter from the President

Dear T.F. Torrance Theological Fellowship Members,

Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

I’m sending you this letter for four reasons.

First it includes the minutes of our annual meeting in Philadelphia, this past November 17th, 2005.

Please find it attached. I would encourage you to read it though as there are several matters for which your input could be helpful or your being informed will help you better participate and contribute to the development of the fellowship.

Second, for those of you who were not able to attend, you should know that we had very good attendance of 30+ and an excellent and even moving presentations by Dr. Andrew Purves and respondent, Dr. Jeannine Michele Graham. The text of their presentations should be available on our website, shortly. They will be featured in our online journal: Participatio: The Journal of the T.F. Torrance Theological Fellowship.

Third, you should all be aware that this March, one of our members, Gerrit Dawson has organized a conference featuring the Torrance’s theology: Discovering the Incarnate Savior of the World: the Theological Vision of the Torrance Tradition. He is hosting it at the church he now pastors, First Presbyterian Church in Baton Rouge, LA. It will be held from late afternoon, Thursday, March 16 through noon Saturday, March 18. Noted speakers will be Alan Torrance, Elmer Colyer, Gerrit Dawson, Douglas Kelly, Andrew Purves and yours truly!

I encourage you all to seriously consider attending. This is a unique event. The cost is only $35 including meals. Go to the official website for further information: Torrance Vision. We hope this event can be a model of other regional conferences to introduce students, pastors and laypersons to the Torrance theological legacy that it might enrich their lives and ministry in Jesus Christ. If you’d like brochures or even posters, contact me or the conference organizer. I’d also like to encourage you to continue to pass the word on of our existence and get folks involved. Direct them to our website: to sign up.

Finally, it may not be too soon to consider putting on your calendar our next annual meeting in Washington, DC, Friday, November 17, 2006. We are presently looking to invite a speaker and respondent for that event. Hope to see you there (if not in Baton Rouge!)

Thanks for your support, prayers and continuing interest.
Yours in Christ,

Gary W. Deddo
